Because the article is talking about Sony as a whole, not just the gaming division. It states that they cut shipment targets for the Vita from 10 million to 7 million though. That thing is another anchor. Gaming division posted an income of 4.8 billion Yen, down 29 billion Yen from the previous quarter.
Even Panasonic made a profit.
eesh
Missing earnings is a big big deal, can the stock take any more?
C'mon Kaz, go for the throat. You still haven't made the tough decisions.
1 year COD exclusivity? Battlefield? GTA? Fallout 4? Next Elder Scrolls?
Could be devastating. How many people would wait to play those games out of principle?
If MS did this and Sony didn't would third parties abandon Sony? Honest question
Really? huh. I'll take your word for it, not going to go to Japan to check :)
Is it the same way in the US and Europe?
Sony has a patent on technology to block used games

They've invested money and resources in researching this idea, it's not unreasonable to think Sony will do this as well.
Time will tell
Blu-Ray is no big deal for MS, there's no "pride" to swallow. What operating system do you think Sony uses on their laptops? In their corporate offices? Blu-Ray is a rounding error compared to that revenue stream.
If they do this and Sony doesn't then it's all over for them.
MS just keeps pushing me away
And yet Team Ico still exists
Ouch haha
It does seem like alot of wishful thinking though. "The shooter market collapses"? I'm not seeing it.
I think you're putting too much emphasis on Kinect, MS isn;t going to abandon the "hardcore"
Nicely done. Thanks for teaching me something this morning.
I've been a member of Live since the days on the original Xbox and for me MS has done nothing but add value to the service over the years. At the start of the generation it was clearly the superior service and was worth paying for imo. That being said, in recent years Sony has almost attained parity and their payed service PS+ is an excellent product. MS really have to bring it Next-Gen with Live or I'll consider dropping it. Sony's move will be interesting in the online space...
This is basically a proof of concept, the tech is way to crude for anything meaningful. My grandkids might be gaming like this though
nah, this is a week old
Probably a couple of months but the point still stands, Europe should get the thing before Japan, consoles are losing relevancy in Japan every day.
You guys have to wait another year. I can't believe it, especially after this gen.
Last in Europe again? Sony should launch first in Europe, that's their number 1 market. Disgraceful.
Looks fine to me
They should dump TV's, they can't compete with the Koreans
